Welcome to Miqtë e Natyrës së Kosovës / Naturefriends Kosovo. We are dedicated to getting people – especially children – more in touch with nature and to preserve the natural resources of Kosovo for future generations!
Naturefriends Kosovo is a part of the international Naturefriends Movement, with over 350’000 members worldwide. Yet, though we share the same values, we are an independent NGO by Kosovars, for Kosovars. And we are looking for YOU to share your ideas, join us and support our cause!

What drives us
Naturefriends have more than 120 years of experience in bringing people together, out into nature – to learn, be healthy and to protect our livelihoods together. This idea also has great potential in Kosovo: as the country is becoming richer, construction, consumption and tourism are booming, but with little care for long term effects. It is happening, what has happened elsewhere, many times before: The beauty and resources of the country are wasted for short-term gains.
We want to be a platform for citizens to protect their own country, advocate for change and lead by example. One of our priority areas is tourism, where we want to develop good examples, and plant the seed for a change of mindset.

We want to get people, and especially kids, to go outdoors so they engage with nature, learn from it and help to protect it

We want to invest in the community. We are not only friends of nature, but also friends with others

We want to set good examples and lead the way. We are transparent, honest, accountable, and work for the common good and not into our own pockets.
Our areas of work
Advocacy & Coordination
We support infrastructure and framework conditions for making sustainable tourism a reality. We enter into dialogue witch public authorities, companies, partners and other stakeholders about how to achieve a more sustainable tourism in Kosovo, that doesn’t destroy the very beauty and culture people come to see.
Outdoor Activities
We bring together people in order to see and feel nature to get them curious about their surroundings and the role they play therein. You don’t harm what you love! We support and conduct educational experiences for children and young people outdoor. Wherever possible, we work with partners that are already active in this field.
Leading by Example
We kick off projects that help improve or preserve the beauty of Kosovo, and make sustainable tourism offers a reality. Our members are currently working on finding a suitable location for a Naturefriends House or Camping, and improving waste management through recycling. More to come!
